Ice Haven (2005)

This is the graphic novel that’s receiving all the critical attention this year, just like Craig Thompson’s brilliant book Blankets received a couple of years ago. Ice Haven deserves all its ciritcal acclaim.  The book is awfully expensive, but it’s a goddamn amazing comic book. It’s Chris Ware-level good; intense, incisive, sad, and smart, while playing with the form of the medium. It’s a quick read, but it’s haunted me since I read it.

No need to say more here: read this book.
